NEWVILLE. . .Olan Earl Williams, a resident of Newville, died Saturday night, May 23, 2015, at his home. He was 94.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 28, 2015, in the Old Center United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Anita Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Center Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Priscilla Trawick, 4852 County Road 7, Newville, AL 36353.


            Mr. Williams was born and reared in Clyde, Texas son of the late Albert Earl Williams and Nancy Adeline Lofton Williams. He served his country in the U. S. Army Corps during World II. Mr. Williams lived in California many years before moving to the Old Center Community in Dale County in 2007. He was a member of the Old Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was formerly employed by Universal Feeds in Colton, CA. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Ratliff, two grandsons, Scott Ratliff and Tracy Thorpe, a daughter-in-law, Dale Ratliff, and two brothers.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Lena Patton Ratliff Williams, a daughter, Billie Thorpe (Louis), all of Newville; a son, Larry Dean Ratliff (Patricia), Yucaipa, CA; a brother, Vernon Williams, LaGrange, TX; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
