NEWVILLE. . .Opal Hughes Williams, a resident of Newville, died late Saturday morning, April 4, 2015, at her home. She was 80.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 6, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ricky Sowell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary.

            Mrs. Williams was born and reared in Houston County and formerly lived in Columbia and Headland before moving to Newville in 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, C.B. Hughes and mother, Annie Lou Haymonds Mills, her husband, Lee Williams, and a sister, Virginia Elmore.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Nancy Lee Whitehead, Headland; two sons, Robert Lee Williams, Newville; and David Lee Williams (Sarah), Villa Rica, GA; five grandchildren including, Jessie Hilton, Enterprise; several great-grandchildren.
