     Oscar Bennett Turner, M.D., a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, and a native of Barbour County, died Friday, July 10, 2015 in Huntsville. He was 60.    

     Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 13, 2015, in the Prospect Baptist Cemetery, near Clayton, with Reverend Hollis Ritter officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Autism Speaks, c/o Alpha Xi Delta, Box 8, The Village, 201 Wire Road, Auburn, Alabama 36849.

            Dr. Oscar Bennett (Ben) Turner was born and reared in Barbour County, near Texasville. He was a graduate of Louisville High School and Auburn University.  Dr. Turner later received a medical degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He was formerly employed by Flowers Hospital and the Dale Medical Center. Dr. Turner was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church in Barbour County. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Turner, his mother, Dorothy Spivey Sparkman, his step-father, D.L. Sparkman, his step-mother, Onyx Turner and his sister, Carolyn Turner Bong.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Shayna Lyn Turner, Orange Beach, AL.
