Ms. Ottie Mae Rice, a resident of Midland City, AL passed away Friday March 29, 2013 at the age of 94.


Memorial services will be held Tuesday April 2nd, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Sunset Funeral Home, with Rev. Bo Weed officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service.


Ms. Ottie Mae Rice was born October 25, 1918 in Midland City, AL. She was a longtime member of Magnolia Freewill Baptist Church and was employed by Ansell until her retirement in 1982. She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel ‘Sammy’ Eugene Rice, Jr.; her parents William Thomas ‘WT’ and Mamie Weed; five brothers and two sisters.


Survivors include her two sons, Donald Ward and Danny P. Rice; three daughters, Delores Ward Tucker, Deborah Rice Whitfield, and Pamela Rice Borton; nineteen grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
