DOTHAN. . .Patricia Hicks Vickers, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday morning, March 24, 2016, in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2016, in the First Baptist Church of Dothan with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Entombment will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Pilots For Christ, P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461 or to The Big Oak Ranch, P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 35146 or to the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Brenda Roberson, 538 County Road 23, Abbeville, AL 36310.

            Mrs. Vickers was born and reared near Headland, daughter of the late James Elijah Hicks and Willie Ruth McKay Hicks. She received a B.S. Degree from Athens College in Athens, Alabama. Mrs. Vickers retired from Wallace Community College as an Instructor in Cosmetology. She lived in Abbeville many years before moving to Dothan in 1983. Mrs. Vickers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan, the Forsythia Garden Club and formerly served as President and Secretary of the Northside Home Owners Association. She was instrumental in making Emerald Lake Duck Pond handicap accessible so that it will be enjoyed by everyone. Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death by her husband, John Travis Vickers, a son-law-law, Wykle Greene, and a brother, Billy Hicks.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Vicky, Kathy, and Karinne; grandchildren, Robie, Leigh, Kari, Marc, Jay, Wykle, William and Hanna; great-grandchildren, Jacklyn, Paden, Samantha, Ross, Travis, Brandon, Reid, Olivia, Julia, Rand and one on the way; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces and nephews, Dennis, Dean, Jack, Bibb, Elizabeth and Ann. It would be impossible to list all the friends and relatives that Patricia held dear to her heart.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jay Greene, Wykle Greene, Marc Price, Robie White, Dennis Hicks and Dean Hicks.
