Mrs. Patricia L. "Pat" Ivey of Dothan passed away peacefully Thursday August 15, 2013 at her residence. She was 90 years of age.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Father Patrick Maher of St. Columba Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time) in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL, where she will be buried alongside her husband of 46 years.


Pat was born February 1, 1923 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Jean Henri Filiatraut and Mary Frances Johns Filiatraut. She met her future husband on a trip to Chicago and the couple's first date was to the movie "Best Years of Our Lives." The couple resided in Chicago briefly and were longtime residents of Elgin, IL and St. Petersburg, FL until they retired to Dothan. Before marriage Pat was a secretary and office manager in Montreal for a physician and also at Dorval Airport. She and John were chef/owners, operating four restaurants throughout their long career. Pat, having been born and raised in a big city, dearly loved working in her gardens in St. Pete and Dothan. She was especially fond of traveling, cooking, baking, and entertaining and also visiting friends at Lake Erie, VT, and Lake Seminole, GA, where she enjoyed fishing and swimming.


Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband John R. Ivey, daughter Susan Mary Ivey Irvin, brothers, Harold Filiatraut, Anthony Filiatraut, Gordon Filiatraut, and sister, Mary Madigan. Survivors include daughters Jo-Ann Ivey Kaiser, Dothan, and Janice Ivey Henton, Sarasota, FL, beloved grandchildren Wike (Ashley) Kaiser of Rockville, MD, and Emily Ivey Kaiser of Washington, D.C., sisters Rita Filiatraut Stapleton of New South Wales and Kathleen Filiatraut of Montreal, several nieces and nephews and their families including Louise Stapleton (John) Tucker of NSW, Patricia Filiatraut (Ralph) Humphries and Penny Filiatraut MacDonald of Ontario, Canada.


The family would like to thank Pat's many dear friends and medical professionals for their gracious help and support and also Father Patrick Gallagher and Sister Miriam of St. Columba Catholic Church.
