Pauline DeVane Powell, 88, of Dothan, AL passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff and Reverend Stacey Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Saturday, August 24, 2013, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Powell was born and raised in Columbia, AL; however, she was a resident of Dothan for greater than 65 years. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and donated her time to writing letters to the elderly who could no longer drive. In addition, she was a retired homemaker and employee at Sears Roebuck and Company for over 23 years. She will be remembered fondly by numerous friends and family who loved her dearly.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jesse Euther Powell in 1979, her son, Jesse Lamonne Powell in 2011, five sisters, and three brothers.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Ellen Hodges and her husband, Carlos of Dothan, AL; granddaughters, Aubrianne Denise Lasuzzo and her husband, Jason of Asheville, NC and Jessica Lynn Wambles and her husband, Chris of Ashford, AL; great-granddaughter, Kristen Wambles of Ashford, AL; daughter-in-law, Lynda Powell, two step-grandchildren, Carla Kelley and Frankie Hodges,  two step-great-grandchildren, sisters, Lucille McCraney and Margaret Smith, both of Dothan, AL and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
