Phillip Samson Whisnant, 73, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2015, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, in the chapel at Camp Victory in Samson, AL. Burial will follow in Corner Creek Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friend’s at Camp Victory on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

He was known as the “Bible Man” to many school children over the last 50 years in both South Georgia and South Alabama. He was retired, after 40 years, from Camp Victory in Samson, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.H. and Lela Whisnant; his wife, Ruth Whisnant; and one brother.

He is survived by his four children, Phillip (Linda) Whisnant of Vienna, GA, Rebecca Whisnant of Samson, AL, Paul (Amanda) Whisnant of Dallas, TX, and Rachel Whisnant of Samson, AL; two grandchildren, Samuel and Christina; three great-grandchildren, Cari, Hannah and Joshua; four brothers and three sisters.
