DOTHAN. . .Ramona McClendon Rathel, a resident of Dothan, died early Saturday morning, May 16, 2015, at her home. She was 66.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 18, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Jeff Peacock and Reverend Hugh D. Kirkland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary and also one hour prior to the services.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Grace Point Church, 3225 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.

            Ramona Rathel was born and reared in Newville, daughter of the late Cecil McClendon and Jeanette Cullifer McClendon. She was a 1967 graduate of Newville High School. She was a resident of Dothan since 1970 and a member of Grace Point Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Arnold. 

            Ramona was passionate about sports and loved playing them in her younger years.  She was also gifted with a green thumb and took pride in her yard and flower garden.  Her daylilies were enjoyed by all who viewed them.

            Surviving relatives include her husband of 44 years, Randall Rathel; two daughters, Casey Hopkins (Brett), Canton, GA; and Christie Williamson (Jason), Calera, AL; a sister, Sheila Preston (Doug), Abbeville; a brother-in-law, Mike Arnold, Dothan; two grandchildren, Brady and Blake Williamson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Brandon Arnold.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Don McClendon, Jimmy Newsom, Bob Haynes, Jerry Parrish, Kenneth Jones and Brian Preston.  -
