Rev. James Edward Sanders of Sheffield Drive, Bonifay, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, March 9, 2014.  He was 82.


 


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva.  Burial will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.


 


Rev. Sanders was born February 15, 1932, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Daisey B. and Ada Mae Anderson Sanders.  He served as a Baptist Minister in the local area for many years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. For many years he was a poultry farmer in the New Zion Community of Holmes County.


 


In addition to his parents his wife, Merle Martin Sanders and a son Michael J. Sanders preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include two sons, David W. Sanders, Haywood (Debra) Sanders, and one daughter-in-law Kathy Sanders, all of Bonifay, Florida. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
