Reverend Jessie Fred Hollis of Enterprise went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 91.


 


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at New Tabernacle Church with Reverend Freddie McCain officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Tabernacle Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00.


 


Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the New Tabernacle Building Fund.


 


Reverend Hollis was born February 3, 1924 in Coffee County to the late Henry R. and Mary Ida Cotton Hollis. He served as the pastor of the New Tabernacle Southern Methodist Church in Coffee County for more than 40 years. He was also a United States Army veteran of WW II and served in the Air Force Reserves.


 


His wife, Melba Peters Hollis, 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include 3 daughters: Annette Phillips (Roger). Ariton, AL, Mellonie Hollis (Alan), Mobile, AL, Angie Hollis Golemon (Casey), Mobile, AL, 2 sons: Jerry Hollis (Gayla), Enterprise, AL, Doug Hollis (Lynn), Pensacola, FL, 1 sister:  Lanelle Hines, Enterprise, AL, 2 brothers: Don Hollis, Ariton, AL, Paul Hollis (Ginger), Ozark,


AL, 6 grandchildren: Ronald Phillips, Chelsey McCollough and Heath Hollis, Matthew and Hannah Hollis, Anya Johnson, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
