 Obituary: Rev. Leonard “Pete” Peters


 


Rev. Leonard “Pete” Peters of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 22, 2013 at SAMC. He was 70. 


Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 25, at 10:00 a.m. in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Preston Owens and Rev. Mitchell Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. 


Rev. Peters was born February 16, 1943 to the late Wesley B. and Linnie Mae Tew Peters in Geneva County. As a loving and faithful man of God, Rev. Peters pastored numerous churches for over 40 years and was ordained with the Living Word of Faith Ministries. 


In addition to his parents, one grandson, Robert Caleb Stone; one granddaughter, Abbie Cate Walker; two brothers: James Wesley Peters and Albert Don Peters all preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife of ­­­­50 years, Luevelle Peters, Slocomb; two daughters: Glenda Kay Stone (Robert), Priceville and Abbie Carol Walker (Chris), San Antonio, TX; one son, Leonard Jearld Peters (Becky), Waynesville, MO.; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Stone, Carissa Watford, Bethany Stone, Garrett Peters, Brandon Stone, Grant Peters and Hannah Peters; four sisters: Betty Joyce Kelley, Columbus, GA, Ouida Shiver, Phenix City, Shirley Killingsworth (Robert), Phenix City, Opal Miller (Jackie), Orlando, FL; one brother, Johnny Peters, Layton, Utah; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. 


The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to a special sister-in-law, Ms. Lovell Norman,  for her help and support during the sickness of Rev. Peters.
