Rev. Royce Rayburn Wise of Samson passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Wiregrass Medical Center. He was 76. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Samson First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Totten officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Wise was born in the Piney Grove Community on February 25, 1936 to the late Hill and Faustene Smith Wise. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Redmon Wise.

He is survived by three sons, Monty Wise (Brandi) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Sloan Wise, and Darryl Wise both of Samson; five grandchildren, Kelsi Wise (Wally Wilson) of Samson, Hannah Wise Ward (Hunter) of Geneva, Joshua Wise of Tempe, AZ, Reyanna Wise of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Spencer Wise of Birmingham, AL; four great grandchildren, Audri Wilson, of Samson, and  Walker, Christian, and Ascher Ward all of Geneva; one sister, Rachel Brooks of Enterprise, and one brother, Rodger Wise of Samson; two nephews, Alan Byrd (Debbie) of Tallahassee, FL, and Kevin Brooks (Kim) of Valley, AL; one niece, Felicia Crews (Richard) of Samson, many great nieces and nephews, and also many loved and devoted members of his late wife’s family.
