Reverend Arthur Emfinger, 90, of Enterprise, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Billy Joe Williams, Rev. Johnny Strickland, and Dr. John Granger officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2014 at the funeral home.  Rev. Emfinger will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.


Known by friends and family as Bro. Emfinger and Papa, Arthur was a native of Barbour County, AL, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and began his service in the ministry in 1953.  He is a graduate of the Baptist Bible Institute, Graceville, FL and Samford University, Birmingham, AL.  He has ministered to churches in Coffee, Dale, Houston, and Henry Counties.  With the support of the Coffee County Baptist Association, he began Faith Community Church in 2001.  Bro. Emfinger had an undeniable passion for serving the Lord and never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus.


Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Johnnie Mae; a daughter, Susan McGlothren (Chuck); a son, Dewey Emfinger (Teresa), all of Enterprise, AL; six grandchildren, Christa Gamble (Phillip), Melanie Campbell (Jeffrey), Jana Emfinger, Keyanna Emfinger, Angie Brown, and Josh Brown; three great-grandchildren, Lawson and Sarah Cate Gamble, and Jasmine Brown.
