Funeral services for Reverend John A. Clark will be held at 2:00 p.m.  on Monday, August 5th at Rehobeth Baptist Church in Rehobeth, AL.   Visitation will be at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, AL, on Sunday, August 4th, from 5:00-8:30.  Family members will be delivering the eulogy, along with Rev. Travis Free.  Interment will be at Big Creek Methodist Church .   Rev. Clark passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer.


Reverend Clark is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Robinson Clark;  two sons, John A. Clark, Jr, wife, Carrie, and David W. Clark; all of Dothan, one daughter, Sherri, husband, Stan Jones of Piedmont, AL;  five grandchildren; Elizabeth Jones Wilson, husband, Mark, of Conway, AR, Evan Clark Jones of Piedmont, Caroline Elizabeth Clark, Catherine Rose Clark and Georgia Katherine Clark, Georgia’s Mother, Amy Simpler Clark, all of Dothan.


After serving for four years in the Air Force, Rev. Clark worked as an electronics technician on Titan Two Missiles with subsidiary companies of Boeing. He also worked for Hayes Aircraft in Civil Service installing radios in helicopters at Fort Rucker prior to accepting his call into the ministry in 1965.  He graduated from The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville, FL.    He was ordained and preached his first sermon at Selma Baptist church in Dothan.  Reverend Clark served as Pastor at several area churches-Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Mt. Enon Baptist Church, Antioch Baptist Church, and Taylor Baptist Church. Other places of ministry include Providence Baptist Church in Clayhatchee, AL, Southside Baptist Church in Troy, AL and Oak Bowery Baptist Church in Ohatchee, AL.  He retired from active ministry in 2006 but continued to serve people through his counsel, conducting funerals and weddings. He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.  He was on the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees from1990-2008.  Reverend Clark was a cattleman and enjoyed taking care of his family farms.  He was an amazing man who loved his family and was a constant source of humor. He possessed a positive outlook on life while showing others how to handle life’s struggles.   He was known to his family and friends by his childhood nickname, Bubba, and liked to tell folks that ‘he was Bubba long before being Bubba was popular’.


Pall Bearers for Reverend Clark will be Evan Jones, Mark Wilson, Randy Hinson, Joe Mack Sawyer, Alan McJunkins, Zack Whaley, Colton Cureton, and Mark Clikas . Honorary Pall Bearers are the Senior Men’s  Sunday School Class of Rehobeth Baptist Church,  Wilber Robinson, . John Craig, Matt McKee, and  Bob Williams.


Reverend Clark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Iantha Clark and his sister, Nell Clark Ketcham.


For those wishing to contribute,  flowers will be accepted or memorial donations will be accepted for the Rehobeth Baptist Church Building Fund.
