Richard Allen Fougeron of Enterprise, Alabama passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, peacefully in his home with his wife by his side from Alzheimer’s disease.  He was 73.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Green Hill Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in his name be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Green Hill Presbyterian Memorial Fund.

Dr. Fougeron was born in San Diego, California on June 12, 1940.  He had a long career with the U.S. Army, including serving over three tours of duty in Vietnam for which he received a Bronze Star.  He held two doctoral degrees, one from LaSalle University and one from the University in Berlin Germany, both in Aeronautics.  He also retired from a career of over 25 years in Aircraft Maintenance with Beechcraft/Raytheon.  He established aircraft repair stations around the world and was a pilot of both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.

He was a Mason for over 45 years of Camp Knox Lodge 919, Life member of the Scottish Rite, and a member of the Midian Shrine of Wichita, Kansas for 19 years.  He was also a life member of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America), both local and national, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 112.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kimberli Jacobson Fougeron, Ph.D.; 3 step children:  Michael Crooks of Enterprise, Nicole Anneke Reindel of Minturn, CO, and Pedra Munoz of Enterprise; 3 grandchildren: Heather and Sarah Crooks of Cape Coral, FL, and Ryker Aycock of Enterprise; and his sister Theresa Kettle and her family, all of California.
