Richard Allen "Rich" Wing, 54, a resident of Ashford passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Alan Hauenstein officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Rich's family requests that you take your loved ones out to enjoy a good meal and a cold beer.

Rich was born in Destin, Florida and resided there the early part of his life. He was a 1979 graduate of Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa where he was the state champion in hurdles. He received a football scholarship to South Dakota State University where he received his Industrial Drafting degree in 1981. He joined the U.S. Army in 1986 and came to flight school at Ft. Rucker in 1987. He served in active duty for 10 years in Alaska, Honduras, and Ft. Hood then joined the U.S. Reserve where he attained the rank of CW4. He was currently working for URS at Ft. Rucker as a helicopter instructor pilot teaching primary flight training.

Survivors include his wife Pamela Wing; son, Alexander Wing; daughters, Madeline Wing and her fiancé Garrett Bowman and Meaghan Wing Simmons; 3 grandchildren including Grayson Bowman; parents, Vernon and Virginia Wing; brother, Andrew (Mary) Wing; sisters, Cindi (Brad) Wing and Barbara (Dan) Zwiener; several nieces and nephews.
