Richard “Dick” Wilson Smith was born on December 13, 1927 and passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Dick was a life long resident of Coffee Springs. He worked with the United States Postal Service in Coffee Springs and Geneva from 1945 – 1989. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs. Dick loved family, friends, and candy making. It gave him great pleasure to share his candy with those he cared about. He also had a special place in his heart for Roscoe the cat.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents, Saul and Dora Smith; brothers, Abb, Bryan, Gene, and Saul Pierce; his sister, Carolyn, and his great grandson, Luke Stewart.


 


Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary “Teny” Campbell Smith; daughters, Vicki Outlaw (Levonne) of Hartford, Suzanne Chapman (Tony) of Dothan, and Lydia Townson of Birmingham; sons, Richard Jr. (Kay) of Samson, and Jeffery of Birmingham; grandchildren, Shannon Stewart (Ryan), Beverly Kosik (Kalen), Andrew Chapman, Mary Catherine, Blake, and Logan Townson, Clara Dawson (Cory), and Katie Smith; great grandchildren, Jackson and Baylor Stewart, and Quinn Kosik.


 


The family would like to thank these individuals for the loving care given to Dick.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs from 10 AM until 11 AM with funeral services to follow, with David Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Coffee Springs with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home directing.
