DOTHAN. . .Robbie C. Kirkland Deese, a resident of Dothan, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was 75.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016, in the Smyrna Baptist Church with Reverend Hosea Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the S.O.S. Animal Shelter, 25944 Highway 134, Enterprise, AL 36330.


            Mrs. Deese was born and reared in Houston County, daughter of the late T. J. Kirkland and Lucille Kornegay Kirkland. She was a graduate of Ashford High School and lived in Dothan most of her lifetime. Mrs. Deese was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Kirkland Green, and two brothers, L.C. Kirkland and Cecil Kirkland.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Bobby James Deese; a daughter, Kathy Shay Deese, and a son, Derek Deese (Marchelle), all of Dothan; a sister, Juanita Gardner, Slocomb; and two brothers, Billy Kirkland (Gail), Cantonment, FL; and Tommy Kirkland (Ann), Midland City; six grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy Overstreet (Megan), Jason Overstreet (Brittani), Justin Overstreet (Crystal), Katie Smith (Allen), Haley Pace and Brianne Ray; seven great-grandchildren, Kyliegh, Piper, Phoenix, Lilly Grace, Braedan, Landon and Emilee.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeremy Overstreet, Jason Overstreet, Justin Overstreet, Frankie Griffin, Bobby Green and George Deese.
