HEADLAND….Robert Larry Bracewell, a resident of Headland, died early Sunday morning, December 4, 2016 at his home. He was 81.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions in memory of his daughter, Carol Blount Scott, may be made to the A.L.S. Association, PO Box 2888, Huntsville, AL 35804.

            Mr. Bracewell was a native of the Edwin Community of Henry County, son of the late Aaron T. Bracewell and Ollie Carr Bracewell Bridges. He lived most of his lifetime in Headland and served in the Army National Guard, Headland Unit, which was activated during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Bracewell was retired from the Dothan Eagle as the mail room supervisor and also from Pony Express Courier Corporation as a courier.  He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Bracewell was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Blount Scott, a grandson, Timothy Gilley, a granddaughter, Melissa Scott, and a great-grandson, Arithien Curry.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Peggy C. Bracewell, Headland; four daughters, Debbie Enfinger (Rodger), Slocomb; Susan Granger (Scott), Blountstown, FL; Linda Brumbaugh, Milledgeville, GA., and Lynn Cole (Larry), Newton; three sons, Dennis Murphy-Blount (Katia), Fort Walton Beach, FL; Paul Blount (Debbie), Hartford; and Chip Blount, Headland; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Maelynn Crawford Hatfield (Kenny L.), Hartford.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Blount, Tyler Blount, Trevor Hatfield, Darren Scott, Terry Enfinger and Fred Murphy.
