Robert Leroy Grove, Sr. (CW3, U.S. Army Retired) a resident of Daleville, Alabama, passed away Sunday evening, March 22, 2015.  He was 77.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Daleville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Doug Dowdey officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00.

Bob was born in Pierre, South Dakota, and moved to Colorado at an early age. He loved his family, friends, playing golf and flying helicopters. He was a distinguished Vietnam Veteran who served two tours as a helicopter pilot assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 5th Calvary, 9th Infantry Division. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross as well as numerous other honors for heroism. He was an instructor pilot in Primary & Advanced Division at Ft. Rucker and civilian contractor Doss Aviation & Civil Service as a GS-12. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6020 in Daleville, and also a founding member of the PHPA. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Deloris Ann Grove; a brother, James C. Grove, Denver, CO; a sister, Karen DeFiore (Frank), Denver, CO; a son, Robert L. Grove, Jr. and his wife Ann, of Fountain Inn, SC; two daughters: Kelly Grove of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Grove of Dothan, AL. Three grandchildren: CPL Robert F. Grove (USMC), MM2 Nathan B. Grove (USN), and Margaret Grove Ferro and her husband Cris Ferro (USN); numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
