ROBERT  M.  SPICER

 

FT. GAINES, GEORGIA. . . Robert M. (Bob) Spicer, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Wednesday morning, December 31, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 81.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.S.T) Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Hines officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the New Park Cemetery, in Ft. Gaines. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church, P.O. Box 248, Ft. Gaines, GA 39851 or to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 200 SE 1^st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131.

            Mr. Spicer was a native of Attalla, Alabama, son of the late Fletcher Haygood (Bull) Spicer and Margaret Childs Spicer. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War era. Mr. Spicer was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church and formerly served as a volunteer fireman with the Ft. Gaines Fire Department. A resident of Ft. Gaines since 1968, he was retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Walter F. George Lock & Dam as an Electronics Technician.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jeanette Patterson Spicer, Ft. Gaines; three sons, Steve Spicer (Donna), Alabaster, AL; Mark Spicer (Teresa), Marietta, GA; and Greg Spicer (Emily), Kennesaw, GA; a sister, Ann Dodson (Bill), Birmingham; four grandchildren, Josh Spicer, Molly Spicer, Abby Spicer, and Sophia Spicer.
