Mr. Robert Sherwood Davis of Samson, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.  He was 72.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Sam Totten officiating.  Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. and continue until service time.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the VFW.

Mr. Davis was born March 31, 1942 to the late Issac Sherwood and Lois Beagles Davis. He served four years in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 101^st Airborne Division.  After 17 years of service he retired from Curtis Mathis as an electronic technician.  He was a loving and devoted father and was totally dedicated to his grandchildren.  Mr. Davis was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, a son, Robert Jeffrey Davis, a brother, Larry Lamar Davis, and a sister, Mary Helen Davis McHenry, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, Michael Sherwood (Tabitha) Davis; four grandchildren: Gabriel, Addison, Peyton and Nadia Davis, all of Enterprise; two brothers: Jimmy (Sonya) Davis of Slocomb and Faron Davis of Samson; one sister, Martha (Earl) Johnson of Samson; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
