Robert Wayne "Bob" Laird, 72, a resident of Webb, AL passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his residence.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Center Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Center Baptist Church, P.O. Box 129, Webb, AL, 36376.


Mr. Laird was born August 10, 1942 in Defuniak Springs, Florida and lived there the early part of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for 8 years spending two tours in Vietnam earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Aviator Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was currently the Assistant Flight Commander and previously had served as the Flight Commander with URS Corporation at Ft. Rucker at the time of his death. Bob had been flying for the past 48 years. He also owned and operated Laird Appraisal Services in Dothan. First and foremost Bob loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his wife and all of his family. He was a man that lived the example he set for his family. He was an avid reader, loved his animals, and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of Center Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Director, a Trustee, a member of the Benevolence Committee, and served on the Building and Grounds Committee. Mr. Laird was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Owens, a sister, Joyce Adkins, and a grandson, Tyler Wilsdorf.


Survivors include his wife, Ramona Laird; daughters, Dani Laird, Michelle (Michael) McGee, Sherri (Jeffrey) Wright, Misti (David) Caddell, and Shea Brown; 6 grandchildren, Crystal, Blake (Jennifer), Trevor, Jordan, Harrison and Hudson; 5 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Briley, Brantley, Chloe, and Easton; a brother, Charlie Owens; a sister, Kathy Whitman; several nieces and nephews.
