Roy Joseph Rhodes Jr. age 78, passed away in Florala, AL on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.  Born June 8, 1934 in Eufaula, AL, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rhodes Sr.  Roy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alice Reeves Rhodes.  They were married in Florala, AL on February 2, 1958. 

Roy is lovingly remembered by his daughter Alicia McDaniel and husband Tommy of Madison Alabama.  Granddaughter Monica McDaniel Elmore and husband Michael.  They have two sons Gordon and Sheldon.  Granddaughter Marlena McDaniel.  Son Roy Rhodes, III and wife Mary of Youngsville, NC.  Grandchildren Justin, Cory, Blake, and Joy Rhodes.   Daughter Cheri Cutten and Husband David of Huntsville, Alabama.  Grandchildren Steven, Timothy, and Robin Cutten.  Son Rev. Dave Rhodes and wife Elise of Chickasaw, Alabama.  Grandchildren Davis, Wesley, Katie, and Sarah Rhodes.   Roy is also survived by his sister Martha Robinson of Panama City Beach and his sister Peggy Waldrop and husband Cracker of Enterprise. 

Roy graduated in 1952 from Coffee County High School and attended Auburn University.  Roy was employed as an Aircraft Mechanic at Ft. Rucker for 38 years. He will be remembered as the greatest husband ever, a supportive dad, committed Scout leader, and a church and community leader.  Some of Roy’s many awards are: Enterprise Man of the Year, Boy Scout Lifetime Achievement Award, State of Alabama Governor’s Recognition, 1995 Eagle Scout Class Leader, Silver Beaver Recipient, and a Wood Badge Scoutmaster. 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Enterprise, Alabama where Roy was a long time member. The Funeral will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Rob West and Reverend Danny Gilroy officiating.  Burial to follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery, 1021 Geneva Highway, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Searcy Funeral Home of Enterprise is handling the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 217 S Main St. Enterprise, AL 36330.
