Ruby Jane Thomas of Samson passed away at a Dothan hospital on Friday, November 20, 2015. She was 76. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Sam Totten officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. 


Mrs. Thomas was born in Rural Retreat, Virginia on April 24, 1939, to the late Bernard Buford Cressel and Lily Bane Stairs Cressel. She and her husband lived in Jacksonville, Fla. for more than twenty years prior to their retirement. For the last twenty-five years, Mrs. Thomas has lived in Samson where she and her late husband moved to be close to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband of forty-five years, PJ Thomas; daughter, Sally Lou Thomas Seaborn; son, Danny Ray Eaddy; and six of her siblings preceded her in death. 


She is survived by her son, Dewayne Eaddy of Samson; two daughters, Sharon Thomas Whalen (Michael) of Jacksonville, Fla. and Deann Dunham of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Logan Eaddy of Samson, Kierston Gillis (Andy) of Samson, Brandon Ranck of Jacksonville, Fla., April Leizear of Pennsylvania and Kurtis Leizear of Samson; five great-grandchildren, Ripken Gillis, Collin Leizear, Jaida’Lyn Mae Bignell, Halli and Harper Gillis; three sisters, Roxanne Hubble of Jacksonville, Fla., Donna Lanham of Rural Retreat, Va. and Hazel Archambault of Front Royal, Va.; a brother, Hobert Cressel of Elkton, Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
