 Ruth Etta Garrett

Ruth Etta Garrett, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Flowers Hospital. She was 87.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garrett was born on March 22, 1928 in Oregon, Ohio and lived the early years of her life there. She was a graduate of Bowling Green University. In 1970, she moved to Dothan and taught special education for 20 years prior to her retirement. She was a two time cancer survivor.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Garrett, Ralph Garrett (Gisela) and Russell Garrett (Pam); 7 grandchildren, Allison Kenny, Joey Garrett, Janis Garrett, Peter Garrett, Rainey Garrett, Traci Garrett and Kelly Garrett; 1 sister, Peggy Ohertman; several nieces and nephews.
