Our angel on earth; Ruth Johnson, departed this earthly life and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was 84.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2013. At other times, they will be at the family home at 5158 South Oates St, Dothan, AL. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Berean Baptist Church, 1381 East Cottonwood Rd, Dothan, AL 36301, or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Rd, Dothan, AL 36303.


 


Mrs. Johnson was born May 21, 1928, in Houston County, Alabama, to the late Willie and Bessie Hunt. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, and flower gardening. She was a long time member of Berean Baptist Church.


 


Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Hunter Eugene (Gene) Johnson, her parents, Willie and Bessie (Kirkland) Hunt, brothers, Jerry and Dan Hunt, and great-great-grandson, Jake Guinn.


 


Left to cherish her memories include her husband of 37 years, William E. Johnson (Ed), a daughter, Marilyn Johnson Guinn, Dothan, AL, sons, Ronald Johnson (Sherrin), Dothan, AL, and Danny Johnson (Nila), Webb, AL. Her grandchildren whom “Granny” was very proud of and loved dearly include Scott Guinn, Stan Guinn, Brian Johnson, Clint Johnson, Angela (Johnson) Ward and Hunter Johnson. She has twelve great-grandchildren.. She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Addie Ivey (Vernon), Edna Richards (George), Shirley Todd (Kenneth), Leon Hunt (Marjorie), Jack Hunt (Agnes) and sister-in-laws, Linda Hunt and Lyvonne Hunt and several nieces and nephews.


 


Pallbearers will be Scott Guinn, Stan Guinn, Justin Guinn, Brian Johnson, Hunter Johnson, and Chris Ward.


 


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Covenant Hospice, especially Brigette Searcy and Mary Thomas, for the loving care they have extended to our mother during this time of sickness.
