Mr. Samuel Marion “Sammy” Davis of Geneva, AL passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. He was 66.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Jerry Galloway officiating and Kenneth Mansell delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.


The family request that flowers are omitted and that memorial contributions be made to: Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37203.   


Mr. Davis was born on October 3, 1949 in Fort Jackson, SC to the late Melton Howard and Juanita Avrett Davis. Sammy began his auto parts career with Ted Avrett VW in Enterprise. In 1991, he went to work with Mitchell Mazda Lincoln in Enterprise. Sammy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Davis was a huge Alabama “Roll Tide” Fan. In his past time, he loved to go fishing.        


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and John Howard Davis.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hilda Davis of Geneva, AL; one son, Kristopher Marion Davis and wife Leslie of New Brockton, AL; one granddaughter, Emma Kate Davis who could always put a smile on her Poppy’s face; two sisters, Janice Donaldson and husband Joe Ed of Elba, AL and Barbara Kay Long of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers Joe Davis of Eufaula, AL and Ed Davis and wife Sherry of Samson, AL; his two special cats, Pedro and Gracie.
