Sgt. Major James L. Hawn of Dothan passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014. He was 90.
The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date. Mr. Hawn will be laid to rest in Seymour, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Disable American Veterans.
Mr. Hawn retired after 30 years of service as Sgt. Major in the US Army. He served his country honorably by serving in three wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife Melba Hawn of Dothan; daughter JoAnn Closson of Dothan; grandchildren Chris Closson and his wife Holli of Dothan; Mike Closson and his wife Deanna of Wilmington, NC; and great-grandchildren Abbey and Chandler Grace Closson of Dothan; and Josh and Ben Closson of Wilmington, NC.
