Sharon M. Peters, of Ariton, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was 71.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 18 County Rd 161, Brundidge, AL with Rev. Bill Hart, Rev. Jason Hughes and Rev. Richard Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gideons International or Alabama Freewill Baptist Children’s Home, Eldridge, AL.

Mrs. Peters was born August 3, 1944 in Dale County. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Zumstein in Ariton and also as a civil servant at Ft. Rucker. She was a loving wife, mother and “Nana”.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leamon Ross Peters, her parents, Talmer and Effie Skinner and one sister, Lillian Wilson.

Survivors include her four daughters, Cheryl Register (Bryant) of Ozark, Monica Bartlett (George) of Warner Robins, GA, Selena Peters of Birmingham and Felicia Riley of Ozark; eight grandchildren; siblings, Marjorie Phillips and Rodney Skinner, both of Ariton; and several nieces and nephews.
