WEBB…Shirley McNeil Cochran, a resident of Webb, died Tuesday afternoon, January 19, 2016, in a Blakely, Georgia hospital. She was 79.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2016, in the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Reverend Hugh D. Kirkland, Jr. and Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, c/o Dawn Deese, 3393 Hunter Road, Columbia, Alabama 36319.

            Mrs. Cochran was born and reared in Houston County, near Malvern, daughter of the late Hosea Pearl McNeil and Viddie Lee Joiner McNeil. She moved to Webb in 1953 where she was an active member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and an active participant in the Webb Senior Center. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Denise Cochran, a sister, Lillie Mae Kirkland, and two brothers Johnny McNeil and Lurie McNeil.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Johnny Frank Cochran; two sons, Ricky Cochran, Webb; and Bruce Cochran (Vickie), Ashford; three sisters, Beatrice Elmore, Dothan; Katrine Sellers, Phenix City; and Lorell Murphy, Fadette, AL; a brother, Reynolds McNeil (Audrey), Dothan; five grandchildren, Adam Cochran (Nikki), Blake Cochran, Trey Oakley (Kasey), Mary Elizabeth Cochran and Spencer Cochran; three great-grandchildren, Bailee Cochran, Brant Cochran and Sara Brooke Cochran.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Shirah, Rex Kirkland, Calvin Owens, James Cobb, Jerry Tew and Mike Hall.
