Stanislous Anton "Stan" Rott, 71, of Headland passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence.


Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Rott was born February 25, 1943 in New York City, NY to the late Anton Rott and Adelle Hewitt. He spent the early part of his life in Petersburg, VA. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and served for 20 years, including tours during the Vietnam War, until his military retirement in 1982. He was later employed with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS and moved to Headland in 1987 and was employed with PEMCO Aircraft at Napier Field. Stan opened the Headland Athletic Club for several years and was also employed with Ace Hardware in Headland for several years. He was a graduate of Troy University with a degree in Management.


Survivors include his wife Marlene Rott; daughters, Tonya (William) Benni and Tiffany (Robert) Blount; a sister Adelle (Joe) Merhout; several nieces and nephews.
