NEWVILLE. . .Sylvia Golden (Dee) King, a resident of County Road 7, Newville, died late Saturday night, June 27, 2015, in the emergency room of the Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 77.


            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Old Center United Methodist Church with Reverend Anita Brown officiating. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery with Pastor Brent Boutwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.


            Mrs. King was born in Henry County and was reared in Newville and Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late Henry Carson Golden and Melissa Jewel Shirah Golden. She lived most of her adult lifetime in Austell, Georgia before returning to Henry County, near the Bertha Community, in 2000. Mrs. King was a member of the Old Center United Methodist Church. She was retired as Human Resource Manager from Flowers Baking Company in Thomasville, Georgia. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas King, six sisters, Hilda Roney, Mildred LaValle, Nell Knighton, Jeanette Keeble, Jo Pilcher, and Jacquetta Trawick; and four brothers, Henry Golden, Jerry Golden, E.L. (Booster) Golden, and Larry Golden.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Pamela Rena Garmon, Newville; a sister, Ann Golden Trawick, Newville; two grandchildren, Jason Mathew Garmon (Nicole), and Joshua Thomas Garmon (Nikki); two great-grandchildren, Jordin Garmon and Barrett Garmon; sisters-in-law, Betty Golden, Eufaula; Martha Ann Golden, Headland; Gladys Golden, Columbus; and Dawn Bailey, Jonesboro, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; a very devoted friend, Faye Peake, Echo, AL.
