Thomas Alan Heath, born in Newport News, VA. on Oct. 2, 1947 passed from this life, age 68, on March 7, 2016, in Atmore , AL, after an extended and arduous convalescence following brain surgery at Emory University Teaching Hospital in Atlanta, GA. 


He is preceded in death by his father, Oliver N. Heath, Sr. and survived by his mother, Marie Adele (Dell) Heath of Enterprise AL; his brother, Oliver N. Heath, Jr. (Mary Louise) of Mobile, AL; his sister, Mary Jane Heath Alley (Del) of Apex, NC; his son, John David Heath; his granddaughter, Emily Madison Heath of Houston, TX; devoted nieces and nephews, Michael Ezra Heath (Deana) of Birmingham, AL, Micah Daniel Heath (Liza) of Mobile, AL, Lydia Marie Heath Sandberg (Christian) of Mobile, AL, Timothy Andrew Heath (Katherine) of Mobile, AL, Laura Adele Alley Kirk (Daniel) of San Francisco, CA, and Meredith Eileen Alley of Philadelphia, PA. His beloved grand nephews and nieces are Harrison Heath, Michael Heath, Josue Heath, Salma Heath, Hadley Heath, William Heath, Cora Marie Kirk and Eliot Kirk. To all he was affectionately known as Uncle T.


Thomas enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he went to work for Pier One Imports where he managed stores in Lincoln, Nebraska and Houston, Texas for 25 years. Upon retiring from Pier One, he went to work for AT&T in Houston, Texas for 10 years. After retiring from AT&T, he moved to Enterprise, AL to care for our parents.


His first love in life was the Lord, His Word, and His Work. He served his church in Houston as an elder. He was a serious student of God’s Word and his library would be the envy of any pastor. After moving to Enterprise, Thomas attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.


Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial service for Thomas A. Heath at Sorrell’s Funeral Home and Crematory, Enterprise, AL, on April 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to your favorite charity.
