Mr. Thomas Eugene Best of Kinston (Lowery Community) passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at his residence.  He was 97.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Donnie Earles officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Best was born July 13, 1918 in Covington County to the late William Jackson and Agnes Lavonia Russell Best.  He was of Methodist faith and a farmer.

Preceded in death : Wife Marie Best, Mother of his children Nolie J. Dixon a daughter Betty Weeks, brother Arthur Samuel Best, 3 stepsons, Johnny, Jacky and Billy Rice, 3 half-brothers: Dick, Bill and Jack Best, 2 half-sisters: Sarah Berry and Maureen Clinton and 1 great-grandchild.

Survivors include: 3 children, 1 son, Harold Best, 2 daughters, Barbara Ezell and Billie Wilfong.  3 stepdaughters:  Margaret Hinson, Jean Rice and Mary Alice Lethco.  1 brother: George Best.  36 grandchildren, 58 great- grandchildren and 54 great-great grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers:  David Ezell, Jason Henderson, Ashley Weeks, Alex Sansom, Charlie Daugherty, Dale Daugherty and Cade Ezell.
