Thomas F. Andrews, 79, of Dothan passed away Sunday June 30, 2013 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Gainous and Rev. Paul Edenfield officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 11 am Tuesday.


Mr. Andrews was born September 15, 1933 in Dale County and lived the early years of his life there. He moved to Columbus, GA in 1954 and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his military duty he was in the heating and air conditioning business while living in Pontiac, MI. He moved to Dothan in 1971 where he owned and operated Andrews Heating and Cooling for several years until his employment with the City of Dothan. He worked with the City of Dothan in maintenance for 20 years until his retirement in 2003. Thomas was a member of the "Table of Knowledge" at Ray's Restaurant, enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. He loved his siblings and was preceded in death by his parents John and Estelle Andrews; his step-mother Mildred Arnold Andrews; a sister Sarah Holland; a brother-in-law Ralph Williams.


Survivors include his son Gary Andrews; daughters, Sally (James) McIntosh and Debbie Blackmon; several grandchildren; brothers, J.W. (Lou Vera) Andrews, Fred (Glenda) Andrews, Gerald (Doris) Andrews, Larry (Martha) Andrews, and Eddie (Kayla) Andrews; sister Barbara Williams; a very special friend and companion Carlene Strickland; several nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Steven Kornegay, Gerald Andrews, Jr., John Andrews, Steve Devine, Larry Shoupe, and Bruce Andrews.
