ABBEVILLE. . .Thomas Norman Farmer, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday morning, April 2, 2015, at his home. He was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 4, 2015, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Fleming and John S. Riley officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

            Mr. Farmer was born and reared in Shorterville, son of the late Thomas Jefferson Farmer, Sr. and Janie Herndon Farmer. He was a 1951 graduate of Abbeville High School and served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War era. Mr. Farmer managed Farmer’s Tire Center in Abbeville for fifty years before retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Scoggins Farmer, a daughter, Kimberly Farmer (Kenneth Paul), all of Abbeville; a son, Thomas Norman Farmer, Jr. ( Susan Owens), Headland; a brother, Thomas Jefferson Farmer, Jr. (Patricia), Columbus, GA; two grandchildren, Kelsey Paul and Kristy Paul; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Patsy Smith (Richard), and Mattie Scoggins Klink (Dick); two brothers-in-law, Carl Scoggins and Johnny Scoggins

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Phillip Hayes, Dr. Perry Mobley, Dale Ezzell, Robert E. Phillips, Johnny Watford, and James Robert Hayes.
