Thomas B. Culbreth


Thomas Benjamin Culbreth passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 peacefully at his home. He was 78.


Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. (CST) Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3894 Ebenezer Road, Columbia, AL 36319, with Rev. Don Tew, Rev.  James Culbreth, and Rev. Duncan Mischler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday prior to service time at the church.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Edward M. and Ollie Mae Webb Culbreth; brothers, Edward M. Culbreth, Jr., Bunyon W. Culbreth, John French Culbreth, and James Olaff Culbreth; and sisters, Frances Culbreth Odom and Betty Louise Culbreth.


Survivors include his wife, Virginia Coon Culbreth of Tallahassee, FL; son, Tommy Culbreth (Sandy) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Paula Mischler (Duncan) of Tallahassee, FL; grandsons, Ben and Jackson Culbreth of Jacksonville, FL and Taylor and Justin Mischler of Tallahassee, FL; brothers, Rudy Culbreth of Dothan, AL, Frank Culbreth (Jenny) of Dothan, AL and Gerald Culbreth (Linda) of Tallahassee, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
