Virgil A. “Doc” Stokes, age 83, of Chancellor, AL, passed away, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in Medical Center Enterprise.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Don Tew officiating.  Burial will follow in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to El Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 506, Chancellor, AL 36316.

Mr. Stokes retired from the U. S. Air Force with twenty years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ollie “Polly” Stokes, Chancellor, AL; daughter, Deborah  Rodgers (Floyd) Enterprise, AL; sons, Ricky Stokes (Pam) Fort Worth, TX; Randy Stokes (Lorrie) Denver, CO; Robin Stokes (Ann) Plano, TX; Raymond Stokes (Julie) Atlanta, GA; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Sterling Stokes, Brooksfield, FL; sister, Virginia Marcus (David) McComb, MS.
