Virginia Craig Stephenson left this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.  She fought the good fight and kept the Faith.  She is now enjoying the glories of heaven with her Lord and Savior.  Among the First Wave of Baby Boomers, she was 68.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church Enterprise with Reverends Sonny Moore, Matt Smith and Ben Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a monetary gift be made to “Forgotten Children Ministries” for Ryan and Philann Stewart, PO Box 24085, Chattanooga, TN 37422.  This ministry works to rescue the street children of Honduras.

After graduating from Auburn University, Virginia started teaching in the public school system for the first five years at New Brockton High School.  She transferred to Enterprise High School where she taught in the Social Studies Department until her retirement.  For the next fifteen years, she worked part-time as an adult literacy aide at Enterprise’s local community college.

Virginia is preceded in death by her devoted parents, Dick L. and Gaye Anderson Craig, who provided her with a Christian home.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her best friend and faithful companion of 25 years, Mike Stephenson, her beloved son and daughter-in-law, McLane (Mac) and Laura Griffin, and her two precious grandchildren, Abby and Carter.  Mikelyn McDavid (Mike) and Charlie Stephenson (Donna) are her wonderful stepchildren.  She has happily shared her love with them and their children, Lyndsay Rutherford (Jeff); Michael McDavid (Blair); Davis Stephenson (Amanda); Kaitlyn Stephenson and great-grandchildren, Cooper and Halle Rutherford.

Her adored siblings are Judy Fuller (Mel) and Dick Craig, Jr. (Brenda).  Included are all her nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by a special stepmother of over forty years, Gladys Belew (Jim) and Glady’s dear children, Lynda Brannon (Fred); Pam Thrasher (Randy); Sharon Pearson and their families.

The family wishes to thank church members, and especially her Sunday School class for all the love and devotion they have shown, especially since learning of her illness.  Also, DaySpring Hospice deserves our gratitude and thanks, especially Erica Littlefield and Terry Nelson.
