Virginia Daniels


Virginia Joan Daniels, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at her home. She was 70.


Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with the Bro. Lawrence Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.


Mrs. Daniels was born November 29, 1943 in Newark, NJ and lived the early part of her life there. She moved to Abbeville in 1980 from New York City and worked with Southeast Alabama Medical Center as an LPN for 24 years. She also worked at CareSouth as the Wound Care Nurse. Mrs. Daniels enjoyed crafts, sewing, and painting. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the North Congregation in Dothan.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford J. and Queen E. Bishop, and her twin brother, Vernon Bishop.


Survivors include her three daughters, Precious C. Green (Wilbur) of Dothan, April D. Rorie of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mona L. Bell (Fred) of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Devin A. Porter, Shukriyyah V. Jones, Tevin J. Porter, Joshua S. Rorie, Blake A. Feggins, Ahriel O. Bell, Abrianna M. Bell, and Brendan M. Bell; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Punola Leslie, Willie Pearl Faggins, Elvira Coppin, Jeanette Johnson (Alonzo), and Dorothea Culver; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends of the family, Charles Taylor, Ingrid Allen, and Frank Chesser.
