Wade H. Baxley, age 71, of Dothan, died March 5, 2015.

Memorial services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Dothan in the main sanctuary. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 1 PM until service time.

Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Keener Baxley and Lemma Rountree Baxley and his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan Baxley.

He is survived by his sons, Hamp (Emily) and Keener (Mary Katharine); his grandchildren, Mallory, Payne, Hampton and Mary Frances; his brother, Bill (Marie) Baxley; and many other nieces and nephews.

Wade was born in Dothan, Alabama and other than college and a judicial clerkship following law school, lived in Dothan his entire life. He was a 1961 graduate of Dothan High School, obtained his B. S. from the University of Alabama in 1965 and thereafter obtained his J. D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1968. Following law school, Wade and Joan returned to Wade’s hometown of Dothan and established their family. As a third generation Dothan lawyer, Wade loved being a part of the legal profession. His calling as a lawyer led him to further involvement with the American Bar Association, where he served as a member of the House of Delegates and Board of Governors, and with the Alabama State Bar, where he served as President in 1999. Above all, Wade Baxley will be remembered for his integrity and professionalism.

The Baxley family extends its thanks and gratitude to the many doctors who assisted Wade and to Covenant Hospice for their outstanding service and compassionate care over his final weeks.
