COLUMBIA…Wallace N. Taylor, a resident of Columbia, died early Saturday morning, August 3, 2013, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. He was 79.


            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Nash Wills and Dr. Henry Hughes officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, near Columbia, with Reverend Don Tew officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility “Activities Fund”, 212 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310


            Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Ebenezer Community of Houston County, son of the late Hiram Harvey Taylor and Lillie Lee Webb Taylor. He was a 1952 graduate of Houston County High School. Mr. Taylor served his country in the U. S. Army and also in the Army Reserve. He formerly owned and operated The Taylor Company, an insurance agency and mortgage broker. Mr. Taylor was also engaged in farming most of his lifetime and was formerly employed with Fluor Daniel Construction Company. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was also a former member of the Pythagoras Masonic Lodge No. 888 in Dothan. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Taylor.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Lillie Crooms Taylor, Columbia; two sons, Ricky Wallace Taylor and wife, Tammy Tew Taylor, Chapin, SC; Ronnie Nathan Taylor and wife, Laura Tooke Taylor, Dothan; two sisters, Wilma Yance, Dothan, a former resident of the Pleasant Plains Community; Marjorie  Odom and husband, Pat, Huntsville; two brothers, Harold Taylor and wife, Mary Ann, Davie, FL; Harvey Taylor and wife, Juanita, Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor, Beth Wisor (Matt), Heather Taylor, Jillian Taylor, and Erin Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Ruth Wisor.         


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Shelly Goocher, Clinton Crooms, Waylon Knighton, Dennis Kilpatrick, Irby Martin, and Rex Yance. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be George Trivett, Robert LeBaron, Deleon Tew, Christopher Robinson, Monty Goocher, and Sidney Goocher.
