Walter Louis Waters passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home in Level Plains.  He was 80.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Reverend Mike Foreman and Billy Fred Grimes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Level Plains Building Fund, 8189 Co Rd 1, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Walter was born January 5, 1936 to the late James Franklin and Bernice Dunaway Waters.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the National Guard.  He also was a retired postmaster and a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Level Plains.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Britt and Adeline Hall Griffith, son-in-law, Jeff Lee, great-grandson, Jordin Caroll, brother, James Curtis Waters, and sister, Dorothy Layton.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Youwanna G. Waters; a son, Jeffery Waters of Level Plains; a daughter,  Dawn Tyree (Tommy) of Level Plains; a sister, Patricia Fuller (Leon) of Level Plains; five grandchildren: Brittany Carroll, Kristen Caddell, Lauren Lee, Emilio Waters, and Myranda Tyree-Hanhart; three great-grandchildren: Reese Waters, Marley Carroll, and Ryker Caddell.
