           Wesley Blacklidge (Buddy) Riley, Jr., a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his home. He was 70.


            Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015, in the Abbeville United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Greene and Mr. John S. Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 A.M. Saturday at the family residence, 103 West Kelly Street.


            In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church for the “Red Bird Mission” or “Sav-A-Life”, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Mr. Riley was born and reared in Abbeville, son of the late Wesley Blacklidge Riley, Sr. and Annabel Knight Riley. He was a 1963 graduate of Abbeville High School and served his country in the Army National Guard in the Abbeville unit. Mr. Riley received a B. S. in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1968 and a Bachelor of Laws from Jones Law Institute in Montgomery in 1973. He lived in Montgomery from 1969 until 2003 and returned to Abbeville in 2007. Mr. Riley retired as an accountant and attorney in commercial real estate in Montgomery and Abbeville.


            Mr. Riley was a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the Abbeville United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board, the Wiregrass Museum of Art and a charter member of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. He served as a board member of the Path Foundation from 1983 until the present. In earlier years, Mr. Riley was a general partner of the Montgomery Athletic Club, served as Comptroller for Thames Lumber & Manufacturing Company, Chairman of the Board for Save-A-Life, and served on the Board of Directors of Frazer United Methodist Church in Montgomery. After moving to Dothan, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Paulette Martin Riley, a brother, John S. Riley, both of Abbeville; a brother-in-law, Joe Rhoades (Jane), Webb, AL; nieces, Jennifer Riley and Julie Taylor, both of Montgomery; Joy Cannis (Chris), Atlanta; Angela Rhoades, Ashford, and Brenda Brasington (Adam), Webb, AL; six great-nieces and three great-nephews.
