DOTHAN…William Edward Sketo, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 86.


            Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan with Reverend Steve Bruce officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of services. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.


            Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandi McCool Champions of Hope, c/o Southeast Alabama Medical Center, 1108 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, Alabama 36301.


            Mr. Sketo was born and reared in Houston County, near Kinsey, son of the late Rossie William Sketo and Mandie Mae McCord Sketo. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later retired from the Navy after twenty-four years of service. Mr. Sketo lived in various locations in the United States and overseas and moved to Dothan in 1972. He was an active member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Sketo was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ann Yeomans.


            Surviving relatives include two sisters, Betty Ruth Sketo-Deal, Enterprise and Martha Mae Spengler, Birmingham; and three brothers, Buck Sketo (Tina), Hartford; Bobby Gene Sketo (Jeanette), Bonifay, FL; and John Sketo (Sharon), Esto, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
