WILLIAM  JEFFERSON  HASTY, SR.



TAYLOR. . .William Jefferson (Bill) Hasty, Sr., a resident of Taylor, died Monday afternoon, June 30, 2014, at his home. He was 78.


            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in the Camp Springs Baptist Church, near Columbia, with Reverend Jim Corley, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Davidson, officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Camp Springs Baptist Church, c/o Sharon Elliott, 12039 County Road 53, Columbia, AL 36319, or to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.


            Mr. Hasty was born and reared in Henry County, near Columbia, son of the late Thomas Ellard Hasty and Glovey Wilbourn Hasty. He lived in Virginia and Bristol, Florida before moving to Dothan. Mr. Hasty served his country in the Army National Guard. He was formerly employed by Fluor-Daniel Construction Company, and in earlier years, worked as a carpenter in residential and commercial construction. Mr. Hasty was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church.


            Mr. Hasty was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debby Hasty, three sisters, Jeanine Davidson, Mary Ella Kirkland, and Sarah Botts, and three brothers, Thomas Hasty, LaDon Hasty, and Edwin Hasty.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Cynthia Firth (Bobby), Poquoson, VA; and Vera L. Castle (Jerry), Conroe, TX; a son, William Jefferson (Billy) Hasty, Jr., Dothan; three sisters, Katrina Enfinger, and Sheila Oakley (Paxton), all of Columbia; Patricia Newton (Gene), Dothan; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Davidson, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Marianne Hasty, Columbia; four grandchildren, Valerie Firth, Vicki O’Bryan (Blake), April Wentz, and Cameron Hasty; four great-grandchildren, Payton O’Bryan, Robbie O’Bryan, William O’Bryan, and Addison O’Bryan.
