WILLIAM  ROBERT  (BILL)  YOUNG

ABBEVILLE…William Robert (Bill) Young, a resident of Abbeville, died late Sunday night, August 11, 2013, at his home. He was 78.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Harrison Steege officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Pilgrim’s Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Tumbleton Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 149, Headland, AL 36345.

            Mr. Young was born in Eatonton, GA and reared in Cleveland, TN, son of the late Clarence Orval Young and Annabelle Darnell Young. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Young lived in Clewiston, FL and Moorehead, FL before moving to Abbeville in 1984. He retired from the Henry County Road and Bridge Department as a mechanic. Mr. Young was a member of the Tumbleton Community Church.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Young, and his mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Bagwell.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Sonnie Bagwell Young, Abbeville; three sons, Robert L. Young (Saundra), Eufaula; Randy R. Young, Cleveland TN, and Steven R. Young, Shiloh, CA; three brothers, Jim Young (Dorothy), Joe Young (Mary Jane), and Gene Young (Faye) all of Cleveland, TN; three grandchildren, Bridgett Williams (Ty), Tiffany Lucier (Chris), and Danielle Huffman (Jason); six great grandchildren, Clara Sasser, Olivia Sasser, Justin Sasser, Andrew Thomley, Tyler Lucier and Preston Huffman; father-in-law, Lloyd Bagwell, a sister-in-law,Rose Ellen Brooks (Ed), and Bill’s special canine friend, “Heidi”.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Keith Davis, Murphy Phipps, Wayne Money, Jeff Money, Joey Riley, and Keith Brady.
