William W. Goding, 66, of Whitinsville, MA died suddenly Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife, Jackie L. Long-Goding, two step-sons John Curley (Donna Minchillo) of Pascoag, RI and Brian Curley (Rebecca) of Whitinsville; three grandchildren Matthew and Emily Curley, and Joshua Minchillo;niece, Shannon Holigan LaPalm (William) of Wilbraham, MA; nephew, Thomas Holigan III (Crystle) of Enfield, CT; brother-in-law, Thomas Holigan II of Broad Brook, CT; two great-nephews and a great niece. Survivors from the Long family include his mother-in-law, Martha J. Long, of Midland City, AL; four sisters-in-law, Janet Skipper and Anna Brannon Long of Midland City; Judy Peterman (Wayne), of Dothan, AL and Jerri Lesser (Jeffrey) of Lincoln, AL and a brother-in-law, Ranny Long (Debra) of Midland City. He is predeceased by his parents, C. Howard Goding and Lillian Sullivan Goding of Berlin, CT, a sister, Joanne GodingHoligan of Broad Brook, CT; and his brother-in-law, Lanny Long and father-in-law Max Long, both of Midland City, AL.

Bill was born March 24, 1949 in Hartford, CT. He graduated from Berlin High School, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts -Boston, and attended the University of Massachusetts – Lowell for post-graduate studies. He was retired from North Shore Community College in Danvers, where he served as the Respiratory Care program director and the Dean of Health Professions. Bill was active in volunteer service for the profession of Respiratory Care. He held many elected offices in the Massachusetts Society for Respiratory Care, the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). At the time of his death, Bill served as the Executive Director with the Joint Review Committee for Education in Cardiovascular Technology. He was also a consultant for the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), Rowlett, TX; the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP), Clearwater, FL; and the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), Eden Prairie, MN. 

Bill was a long-time resident of Beverly, MA . He purchased Sunset Stables MA on Hill Street in January 2013 and moved to Whitinsville in May, 2013. He enjoyed traveling with the Tufts Group, a group of friends who met as college freshman at Tufts University and have remained so ever since. He and Jackie loved spending their winters in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, FL. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his grandchildren and his family, including the Sunset Stables barn family.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 2:00 pm at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, MA. There will be a celebration of Bill’s life with his Alabama family and friends at a later date.
